Saved products
As part of a strategic initiative set forth by leadership called “Shopping 2.0”, I led work to define north star and MVP experiences that would allow our users to create collaborative collections of saved products, driving engagement, go-to-retailer events, and purchases.
Team
I collaborated with UX research, Marketing Product Management, and Engineering.
Role
I led all strategy, design, and testing, and collaborated closely with UX research to surface and validate user needs in discovery.
Impact
In the first ~6 months of release, for users that engage with this feature, monthly average sessions (~+75%), session length (~+150%), and go-to retailer events (~50%) are up significantly against users that do not.
Users can save a product anywhere a product card exists, and save to their default saved products list.
If a user wants to save a product to a new list, they can do that too.
Whereas on a first-run of this experience a user will only see their default list, once they've created additional lists, they'll see those on click or tap of a heart.
The saved products page will display their lists, and from there they can did in into specific lists of products. An empty state will guide users into a shopping journey.
Users can manage their lists, which includes functionality to rename or delete.
Process
Frame
Our team had established an ambitious vision for the future of the product called Shopping 2.0. I helped break that vision into discrete opportunities we could evaluate and pursue, framing this work around a key question: how could we help shoppers better organize and engage with products they were considering?
Discover
Working with our UX Research lead, I combined existing research with new user conversations to better understand how people managed products they were considering. We identified organization and collaboration as two significant unmet needs and began evaluating potential solutions against them.
Explore & define
I explored a range of ways to address organization and collaboration, eventually defining and wireframing a North Star experience. From there, I worked with Product and Engineering to translate that vision into minimum viable and marketable versions, balancing user value with technical feasibility and effort.
Design & deliver
I moved from the broader product vision into the details of the experience, iterating through high-fidelity design and unmoderated user testing. I reviewed the work with the delivery team and cross-functional stakeholders, then partnered closely with Engineering through handoff and development to bring the experience to life.
